This blog is written by the Rev. Dr. Hilary B. Smith, a priest of the Episcopal Church. The title, Angels in the Alley, refers to experiences of grace in places or circumstances that are out-of-the-way, unexpected, or often experienced as dark.

Youth Group goes Bowling
We had a great time today at Northside Lanes. Our Youth Group is growing and bonding and it is great to see. We also have some wonderful adults helping me (Hilary) with the mentoring of this group.

Preparing for the Food Pantry
At 4:00pm today, January 7th, we are packing bags for our Food Pantry tomorrow. Anyone who would like to help is most welcome...a fun and meaningful activity for children. No Saturday service tonight and that's why we are packing the bags earlier in the day.
Epiphany Sermon: Another Road
For some reason, I felt called to quote a number of people in this sermon, which I don't tend to do in my sermons these days. But Shane Claiborne's book, The Irresistible Revolution; and Jonathan Wilson's book, Living Faithfully in a Fragmented World, were both on my mind as I considered Epiphany.

Join Us to Celebrate the Epiphany Tonight
Join us tonight, Friday January 6th, to celebrate the Epiphany: Holy Eucharist Rite II at 6:00 pm, followed by a party with pizza and refreshments. My sermon tonight focuses on the Wise Men who followed the star to find the baby Jesus and that they had to go home by another road following their encounter with Christ. Jesus changes everything for the person who knows Him to be the Son of God, the Savior of the world.
